Recommended Reading for a Calmer Mind & Deeper Connections to Self & Others
In order to maximize the work you are doing in therapy, we recommend that you do some reading in between sessions. Not only do these books offer guidance, they can help normalize your experiences and serve to bridge the experiential time in the therapy office with your intellectual understanding. Your therapist may ask you over the course of your work together to read one or more of these books, if they feel it would support your progress in therapy.
These books also offer some helpful tools and techniques for addressing many issues, such as practicing mindfulness, managing triggers and flashbacks, to deepening your communication with your partner.
The books listed below are ones that can easily be purchased online (just click on the image and it will take you to Amazon) and require no prior background in psychological theory. Many of the books have been personally transforming for our therapists and as well as helpful for our patients.
